Vengo de La República Dominicana tierra del merengue, es mi primera vez aquí en Saratoga Springs NY y es mi primera experiencia trabajando con caballos, me ha dado la oportunidad de conocer el mundo hípico y encariñarme con los caballos y su entorno.
Recientemente, visité el museo nacional de carreras y salon de la fama y tuve el chance de disfrutar del simulador de Jockey al finalizar me hizo reconocer y admirar el trabajo de los Jockeys que aparte de la adrenalina que provoca correr caballos y el gran esfuerzo físico que deben de hacer.
Aunque mi tiempo libre suele ser limitado, trato de utilizar al máximo en actividades como conocer la ciudad, aprender parte de la historia de Saratoga Springs. Como también aprovechar los cursos que se imparten en la Oficina de EOC como el de inglés y fotografía.
Siempre me ha llamado la atención el arte que representa la fotografía, entonces al enterarme de las clases que se impartirían me inscribí inmediatamente. Las lecciones me ayudaron a desarrollar y ser más observador a la hora de hacer una toma a cosas de las cuales quizás no me percataba.
Pude aprender acerca de la regla de los tres tercios, donde puedo enfocar el objetivo que quiero captar con la fotografía y como tirar fotos tipo macro que me permitieron destacar el objeto principal de la foto.

I come from the Dominican Republic, land of merengue. It’s my first time here in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and it’s my first experience working with horses. It has given me the opportunity to get to know the horse world and grow fond of the horses and their environment.
Recently, I visited the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame and I had the chance to enjoy the Jockey simulator. This made me realize and appreciate and admire the work of the Jockeys that apart from the adrenaline that makes the horses run and the great physical effort that they must do.
Even though my free time is usually limited, I try to maximize it through activities like exploring the city, learning part of the history of Saratoga Springs. As well as taking advantage of the courses that are given in the EOC Office like that of English and photography.
The art that photography represents has always caught my attention, so when I found out about the classes that would be given I signed up immediately. The lessons helped me to develop and be more observant when taking shots of things that perhaps I didn’t notice.
I was able to learn about the rule of thirds, where I can focus the object that I want to capture with photography and how to take macro type photos that allowed me to highlight the main object of the photo.
