Un día sentada en el carro estaba viendo el espejo, cuando vi la luz brillante del sol en un lado de mi cara y creando una sobra en el otro lado, saque mi cámara y tome una foto. Me gusta esta foto porque muestra quien soy realmente.

One day I was sitting in the car looking in the mirror, when I saw the bright light of the sunset on one side of my face and the shadow it was creating on the other side. I thought it looked interesting so I pulled out my camera and took a picture. I like this picture because it shows the real me.

La gente dice esto todo el tiempo. Usualmente quieren decir que la vida tiene cosas buenas y malas, pero no es necesariamente verdad. Por ejemplo estas escaleras, las puedes tomar para arriba o para abajo, ¿Pero cuál es mejor que la otra? Cuando vas a un juego en un carnaval, subes las escaleras para subirte a la diversión. Por eso tome esta foto, te lleva a ambas partes.

People say that all the time. They usually mean that life has good things and bad things, but that is not necessarily true. For example, stairs—you can take stairs that go up or that go down, but is one better than the other? When you go on a carnival ride, you go up the stairs to get to the fun. Or when you go down the stairs of your house to get outside, going outside is fun. This is why I took the picture, it takes you both ways.

Estas son las sillas sobre las mesas unos días antes de que las carreras de caballos comiencen. Al final de las sillas hay luz. Es como el dicho “al final del túnel siempre hay luz”.

These are the chairs on the tables a few days before the track meet begins. Everything is closed and put away. At the end of the chairs, there is light. It is like the saying “there is light at the end of the tunnel”.

En Nuestra clase de fotografía nos enseñaron que edificios nuevos son lindos, pero los viejos tienen una historia atrás. Me pregunto qué historias tiene este edificio.

In our photography class, we were taught that new buildings were nice, but old buildings had a story behind them. I wonder what stories this building hides.

Es un espacio entre dos edificios. Me gusta porque refleja la luz en el otro edificio. Sin el sol solo serían dos edificios. Él se muestra al final del callejón y al otro lado de la calle.

This is a space between two buildings. I like it because the light reflects into the other building. Without the sun it would be just two buildings. It shows at the end of the alley, it shows the other side of the street.
