María Hurtado

Mi nombre es María Hurtado y soy de Michoacán, México. Vivo en Nueva York con mi esposo y mis hijos. Me gusta hacer fotografías como hobby. Encuentro que me relaja. Mi primer año aprendiendo a tomar fotografías fue en 2018. Me complació que me invitaran a aprender más este año. Aprendí mucho de los maestros y realmente disfruté experimentando con la luz y retratando a mi hijo pequeño. Espero que mis fotografías capturen mi vida con mi querida familia aquí en el área rural de Nueva York.

My name is Maria Hurtado and I am from Michoacán, Mexico. I live in New York with my husband and kids. I like doing photography as a hobby. I find that it relaxes me. The first year I learned how to take photos was in 2018. I was happy that I was invited to learn more this year. I learned a lot from my teachers and I truly enjoyed experimenting with light and taking pictures of my youngest son. I hope that my photos capture my life with my family here in the rural area of New York.

Hubo un tiempo en el que trabajé en la granja. Yo les daba agua y de comer. También les daba su medicina cuando se enfermaban. Era un poco cansado pero a la vez muy bonito. Estamos aquí para darles una mejor vida a nuestros hijos, pero muchas veces nos sentimos encerrados como si estuviéramos en una jaula porque no tenemos la libertad que tendríamos en México.

There was a time when I worked in the farm. I fed them and gave them water. I also gave them their medicine when they got sick. It was a bit tiring, but nice at the same time. We are here to give our children a better life, but many times we feel locked up like if we were in jail because we don’t have the freedom that we would have in Mexico.
