Soy de Guadalajara, Jalisco. Tierra del tequila y el mariachi. Yo emigré a Saratoga Springs, N.Y. por temas

de trabajo. Ahí conocí a grandes personas y amigos que me animaron a tomar las clases de fotografía y descubrir mi capacidad para tomar fotos.

Actualmente vivo en Guadalajara, pero, a pesar de la distancia estoy en el proyecto “Estamos Aquí” y me gustaría que a través de mis fotografías todos conozcan un poco más de cómo es la tierra donde vivo Jalisco, México.

Los fines de semana los paso con mi familia, nos reunimos y convivimos todos. En mi tiempo libre me gusta tomar fotos, pasar tiempo disfrutando de ir a comer con mis amigos que son pocos, pero valen mucho para mí, siempre que les platico del proyecto de fotografía me apoyan mucho al igual que los profesores a quienes les agradezco sus enseñanzas, he aprendido más de cómo tomar una mejor fotografía.

I am from Guadalajara, Jalisco in Mexico. From the land of tequila and mariachi. I migrated to Saratoga Springs, NY because of my job. There I met great people and friends who pushed me to take the photography classes and there I discovered my ability to take photos.

Today I live in Guadalajara, in spite of the distance I am part of the “Estamos Aqui” project and I would like through my pictures for all to learn a little bit more about this land where I live Jalisco, Mexico.

I spend my weekends with my family, we get together and talk to each other. In my free time I lik1qe to take photos. I also like to spend my time eating with my friends; although few, they are worth a lot to me. I always talk to them about the photography project and they encourage me a lot just like my professors whom I thank for their teachings. I have learned more about how and what it takes to take better photos.

Atrapado en la libertad/Trapped in Freedom

Atrapado en la libertad, así es como nos sentimos los inmigrantes aún estando legalmente en este país. Tenemos la libertad de pasear y trabajar, pero nos sentimos atrapados porque no sabes en qué momento alguien nos señale.

Trapped in freedom, this is how we immigrants feel even when we are in this country legally. We have the freedom to go about and work, but we feel trapped because we don’t know when someone is going to point at us.

Lograr lo imposible/Achieving the Impossible

Así como este insecto logró colocarse a la cima de la ramita sin caer, así luchamos por lograr aquello que para nosotros nos parece imposible pero no lo es. Eso que nos parece imposible está en nuestras mentes. Podemos lograr lo que nos propongamos.

Just like this insect got to the top of the branch without falling, this is how we achieve what looks like impossible to us but is not. That which seems impossible is in our mind. We can achieve what we put forward.

Poder y Equilibrio/Power and Balance

El vuelo ágil de la libélula y su capacidad de moverse en todas las direcciones destilan una sensación de poder y equilibrio, algo que solo viene con la edad y madurez. Igual que yo tengo poder y equilibrio en mi vida y en mis logros para ir a la dirección correcta.

The agile flight of the dragon fly and its ability to move in every direction, distill a sensation of power and balance--something that only comes with age and maturity. The same way that I have enough power and balance in my life and in my achievements, to go in the right direction.

Recuerdos/Memories

Sepan que la vida en este país no es fácil, paso momentos agradables y desagradables, es difícil estar solo extrañando a mi familia en todo lo que hago, pienso en mis amigos y al final me quedo con el momento en que regrese a mi país y la felicidad completa que estará ahí para mí.

You should know that life in this country is not easy, I go through nice and not so nice times, it’s hard to be alone missing my family in everything I do, I think of my friends, and in the end I cling to the moment that I’ll return to my country and how complete happiness will be there waiting for me.
